On-Site RF Calibration in Southern California

Most calibration labs will come to your site for hand tools and multimeters. Far fewer will bring RF and microwave standards. American Gage performs on-site RF calibration across Southern California — for the racks, systems, and export-controlled hardware that should not leave your building.

Why on-site RF is rare, and why it matters

RF calibration depends on standards that are sensitive, expensive, and not trivially portable, which is why most providers quote on-site work for dimensional and electrical hand tools and go quiet when the request involves a signal generator or an analyzer. The usual answer is that the instrument must ship — often out of state, into a queue you cannot see.

For a meaningful set of Southern California programs, shipping is the wrong answer or no answer at all. Export-controlled and ITAR-sensitive hardware that a program would rather not put on a third-party truck. Analyzers integrated into a rack or system that cannot be broken down without requalifying the whole assembly. Instruments whose absence stops a test campaign. In those cases the question is not what calibration costs but whether it can happen at all.

What we bring and what you get

A technician and traceable standards come to your facility, and the work is performed under our A2LA ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, certificate 4296.01. Certificates document as-found and as-left readings, measurement uncertainty, NIST traceability, and the ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 decision rule with TUR — the same package as bench work, not a reduced field version.

On-site visits cover [spectrum analyzers](/spectrum-analyzer-calibration), [network analyzers](/network-analyzer-calibration), [signal generators](/signal-generator-calibration), [oscilloscopes](/oscilloscope-calibration), power meters and sensors, [multimeters](/multimeter-calibration), and the dimensional and mechanical instruments in the same building — so a single visit clears the calendar rather than half of it.

Scheduling, and being straight about the constraints

Book roughly two weeks ahead so we can schedule the right technician and the right standards for your instrument list. After-hours and weekend visits can be arranged where a shutdown or a test window is the only time equipment is free. On-site work carries minimums that vary by discipline and travel — we quote those directly rather than publishing a number that will be wrong for your situation.

Not every parameter is better on-site. Some measurements are genuinely more capable on the bench in an environmentally controlled room, and where that is true for something on your list we will tell you rather than quoting the visit anyway. Send us the instrument list and we will say plainly which items we would do at your facility and which are better sent to Placentia.

What we see most

  • Rack-mounted RF & microwave systems
  • Spectrum & network analyzers
  • Signal generators & sources
  • Power meters & sensors
  • Oscilloscopes & probes
  • Multimeters & electrical test fleets
  • Export-controlled & ITAR-sensitive hardware

On-Site RF Calibration FAQs

Do you really bring RF standards to our site?

Yes. On-site RF and microwave calibration is a service we perform across Southern California, which is uncommon — most providers offer on-site only for hand tools and general electrical work.

Is an on-site certificate the same as a bench certificate?

It carries the same content: as-found and as-left readings, measurement uncertainty, NIST traceability, and the Z540.3 decision rule with TUR, under our A2LA ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation.

How far ahead do we need to book?

About two weeks, so the right technician and standards are scheduled for your instrument list. After-hours and weekend visits can be arranged around a shutdown or test window.

What does on-site calibration cost?

On-site work carries minimums that vary by discipline and travel distance, so we quote from your actual instrument list rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most situations. Send the list and we will price it.

Is everything better done on-site?

No, and we will say so. Some measurements are more capable on the bench in an environmentally controlled room. We will tell you which items on your list are better sent to the lab in Placentia.

Need on-site rf calibration?

Send your list — manufacturer, model, quantity — and we'll return scope, pricing, and turnaround within one to two business days.
