Calibration Services in Aliso Viejo

Aliso Viejo is the youngest city in Orange County and one of the least industrial-looking, which disguises how much regulated engineering happens inside its business parks. The instruments that matter here sit in medical device design labs and R&D benches rather than on a shop floor — and they still need accredited calibration certificates when the auditor arrives.

Business-park metrology has different problems than shop-floor metrology

Aliso Viejo incorporated in 2001 out of the old Mission Viejo Company master plan, and it was built around corporate campuses along Enterprise, Pacific Park, and Summit — not around heavy manufacturing. The practical consequence for calibration is that instruments here are scattered in ones and twos across engineering departments, quality labs, and validation groups, rather than concentrated in a single tool crib with a dedicated coordinator.

That scatter is what breaks recall schedules. A torque screwdriver on a design-verification bench, a digital multimeter in an electronics lab, and a set of calipers in a prototyping room all fall due at different times, all belong to different cost centers, and none of them has an owner whose job is remembering. We track intervals by account rather than by purchase order, so the reminder comes from us and the whole set moves together on one pickup.

Our free Orange County route reaches Aliso Viejo every Monday and Wednesday. For companies that would rather not release instruments at all, on-site calibration at your facility keeps controlled equipment inside your building and inside your quality system.

Design-control evidence for medical device developers

Aliso Viejo has a real concentration of medical device and life science companies, many of them development-stage organizations working toward design freeze rather than running production lines. Under ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR 820, the measuring equipment used to produce design verification data has to be traceable and controlled — and that requirement applies to a prototype bench exactly as it applies to a production cell.

Every certificate we issue documents as-found and as-left readings, measurement uncertainty, NIST traceability, and the ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 decision rule with TUR. As-found data matters more than most people expect during design control: if an instrument comes back out of tolerance, you need the historical record to scope which verification results are affected. A certificate that only reports as-left readings cannot answer that question.

What we calibrate for Aliso Viejo companies

The lab covers nine disciplines in environmentally controlled, discipline-specific rooms. Dimensional calibration handles hand tools, gauges, and hard gaging. Electrical and RF calibration runs on automated Fluke MET/CAL procedures and covers multimeters through spectrum and network analyzers. Temperature and humidity runs from −196 to 1000 °C against reference SPRTs. We also cover pressure, mass and balances, pipettes to ISO 8655, force and torque, gas flow, and vibration.

Beyond routine calibration we handle repair with stocked OEM parts, AMS 2750 oven and furnace surveys, Kaye validation for IQ/OQ/PQ, and GMP staffing support. Repair estimates never exceed 50% of the cost of new — if a tool is not worth fixing, we say so instead of quoting around it.

A lab you can actually reach

American Gage has calibrated from Orange County since 1968 and has been under current ownership since 1998. The lab is 8,000 square feet in Placentia and has performed more than a million calibrations. That history matters less than what it produces day to day: when an Aliso Viejo quality manager calls with a question about a decision rule or a suspect as-found reading, the person answering knows the account.

Standard turnaround is 7–10 business days. When a design review or an audit will not wait, expedited calibration runs on 24, 48, and 72-hour schedules for a fee. Tell us the date you need the certificate in hand and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

Aliso Viejo calibration FAQs

Do you pick up in Aliso Viejo?

Yes. Aliso Viejo is on our free Monday and Wednesday Orange County route — no minimum order and no pickup charge. The lab is about 22 miles north in Placentia, roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive.

We only have a handful of instruments. Is that too small?

No. A large share of our Aliso Viejo work is small sets scattered across engineering and quality groups. We consolidate them onto one account, track the intervals, and pick everything up together.

Can you calibrate at our facility instead?

Yes. On-site calibration is available for dimensional, mechanical, and electrical work and is often the better answer for equipment you would rather not release. Book roughly two weeks ahead so we can schedule the right technician and standards.

What does your accreditation cover?

ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited by A2LA under certificate 4296.01, with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 and Z540.3 compliance. Our quality system is compliant to ISO 10012 and applicable portions of AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR. The current scope is downloadable from our [accreditations page](/accreditations).
