Calibration Services in Artesia
Artesia is 1.6 square miles — one of the smallest incorporated cities in Los Angeles County — wedged between the 91 and the 605 with Cerritos wrapped around three sides of it. The manufacturing is small-shop and it is pushed to the edges, along Pioneer and the industrial strip on the south side, and it is exactly the kind of work that national calibration chains price as an afterthought.

Small shops get the same certificate the big accounts get
A six-person machine shop in Artesia and a hundred-person aerospace supplier get the same accredited certificate from us, produced by the same technicians under the same ISO/IEC 17025:2017 scope. That sounds obvious until you have priced the alternative. National labs tier their service, and a shop sending eight micrometers and a set of gage blocks lands at the bottom of the queue behind contract accounts.
We are a single 8,000 sq ft laboratory, so there is no national queue to be sorted into. Artesia sits on our free Tuesday and Thursday Los Angeles County route, about 18 miles from Placentia. There is no minimum order for route pickup, which for a small shop is often the difference between calibrating on schedule and letting tools drift another quarter.
Hand tools, hard gaging, and the things that actually come in
The bulk of Artesia work is dimensional: micrometers, calipers out to 60 inches, gage blocks, thread gages, indicators, height gauges, and pin sets. Dimensional was our founding discipline in 1968 and it is still the largest volume through the door.
Alongside that, torque wrenches from assembly benches, pressure gauges off hydraulic equipment, scales and balances in shipping and mixing, and multimeters from maintenance carts. We also resurface granite surface plates to ±0.0001 in on small plates and repair dimensional tools with parts stocked for Mitutoyo, Starrett, Interapid, and SPI.
Repair estimates never exceed 50% of the price of new. On a worn indicator or a dropped caliper, that ceiling is usually the whole decision — and if the tool is not worth saving we tell you rather than quoting the repair anyway.
When your customer audits you, the certificate does the work
Artesia shops mostly sell into somebody else supply chain, which means the calibration questions arrive secondhand — an aerospace prime asking for AS9100 evidence, a medical customer asking about ISO 13485 controls, an automotive tier asking about IATF. The answer to all three is the same document.
Our certificates carry as-found and as-left readings, measurement uncertainty, NIST traceability, and the Z540.3 decision rule with TUR. We also supply supplier-qualification packets — accreditation certificate, current scope, and quality manual references — so you can answer a purchasing questionnaire without calling us for each one.
Getting instruments to Placentia from Artesia
Three options. The free route runs Tuesday and Thursday and covers Artesia at no charge. Drop-off at 1131 S Richfield Rd works Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM — about a 25 to 35 minute drive up the 91. Or ship in, if that suits your paperwork better.
Standard turnaround is 7–10 business days from receipt. Rush calibration is available on 24, 48, and 72-hour schedules when a job is waiting on the tool. Tell us what is holding and we will sequence it.

Artesia calibration FAQs
Is Artesia on a free pickup route?
Yes. Artesia is covered by our free Tuesday and Thursday Los Angeles County route, with no minimum order. The lab is about 18 miles away in Placentia.
We only send a few hand tools at a time. Will you take that?
Yes, and it is a large share of what we do for small shops. There is no minimum for route pickup and no small-order surcharge.
Can you repair a tool instead of just calibrating it?
Often. We stock parts for Mitutoyo, Starrett, Interapid, and SPI, and repair estimates never exceed 50% of the cost of new. We also lap small granite surface plates to ±0.0001 in.
What do your certificates include?
As-found and as-left data, measurement uncertainty, NIST traceability, and the ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 decision rule with TUR, issued under our A2LA ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, certificate 4296.01.
