Calibration Services in Garden Grove

Manufacturing is Garden Grove’s largest employment sector — 16.9% of all jobs — and four of the city’s ten biggest employers build things, three of them for aerospace. At eleven miles, it is also the closest city on this list to our lab. From Richfield Road it is the 57 to the 22, a freeway named after the city.

A fastener plant sets the standard here

Air Industries on Knott Street, a Precision Castparts company, makes high-strength aerospace fasteners across more than 40,000 part numbers. It holds AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015, Boeing D1-4426 quality-system approval, and Nadcap accreditation for Heat Treating, Materials Testing and Nondestructive Testing — all three in house.

That combination produces one of the heaviest calibration loads in Orange County. Thread plug and ring gages and setting plugs in enormous variety, go/no-go pin gages, thread and blade micrometers, optical comparators, gage blocks and surface plates, hardness testers with certified test blocks, tensile frames and extensometers, torque testers for fastener qualification, and AMS 2750 furnace temperature-uniformity surveys with system accuracy tests and thermocouple calibration. Nadcap pyrometry is not a general requirement somewhere else — it is a documented obligation inside this city.

Aerospace across the Western Avenue corridor

GKN Aerospace Transparency Systems has built military canopies and cockpit and passenger windows on its 15.5-acre Garden Grove site since 1993 and leased a further 125,800 sq ft on Western Avenue in 2025. Safran Cabin runs cabin interiors here as well as in Huntington Beach. Saint-Gobain’s Omniseal Solutions operation makes high-performance polymer seals and bearings for aerospace and semiconductor.

Underneath them sits a verified layer of AS9100 fabricators: Talsco/JVR Sheetmetal on Patterson Drive with waterjet and laser cutting, Cyber Aerospace on Lampson running three-, four- and five-axis machining in aluminum, titanium and stainless, and Innovative Metal Designs on Monarch Street doing CNC, forming, tooling and turnkey assembly for aerospace and medical. The industrial spine runs Western, Knott, Lampson, Patterson and Monarch — all inside 711 acres zoned industrial, with vacancy that has spent most of the last five years between two and five percent.

For these shops the recurring items are dimensional hand tools, CMM and laser-tracker artifacts, press-brake angle gages, press and punch tonnage verification, coating thickness gages, force gages and torque tools.

Food, diagnostics and the weights-and-measures layer

House Foods America on Orangewood Avenue is the largest tofu plant in the country, producing more than 275,000 pieces a day from a 130,000 sq ft facility expanded again in 2019. Flowers Bakery occupies 51,764 sq ft on Doig Drive. Food processing turns measurement into a food-safety record: HACCP critical-control-point thermometers and data loggers, cooker and pasteurizer temperature, cold-storage mapping, checkweighers, pH meters, refractometers, metal-detector test pieces, and scales that the Orange County Sealer of Weights and Measures inspects and seals as commercial devices.

Hycor Biomedical on Chapman Avenue manufactures in-vitro diagnostic products for allergy and autoimmune testing — a genuinely different instrument list. Single- and multi-channel pipettes under ISO 8655, analytical and microbalances with class weights, centrifuge speed and timer verification, incubator, water-bath, refrigerator, freezer and −80 °C mapping, autoclave verification, plate-reader wavelength standards, and cleanroom differential pressure.

Koreatown, Little Saigon and the honest version

Garden Grove Boulevard carries Orange County Koreatown, officially renamed in 2019 and the oldest Korean business district in the county, and Little Saigon straddles the Westminster line. These corridors are not a manufacturing base and we will not pretend otherwise — they are restaurants, markets, bakeries, pharmacies, medical and dental clinics.

The calibration need there is real but specific: county-sealed retail and deli scales, food-safety probe thermometers, walk-in and reach-in cooler monitoring, pharmacy balances, and the pipettes, centrifuges and autoclaves in the clinics. Garden Grove also has a dense cluster of independent dental laboratories, where porcelain and sintering furnace temperature and milling-unit verification matter more than anyone expects.

Eleven miles is close enough to change the math

Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center, 167 beds and roughly 516 staff, rounds out the account mix with clinical lab and sterile-processing work. Between the hospital, the fastener plant, the food processors and three dozen machine shops, this city needs most of what a calibration lab does — which is the argument for one supplier rather than four.

All nine disciplines run in-house at Placentia, eleven miles up the 22 and the 57. Expedited service at 24, 48 and 72 hours is real at this distance, on-site calibration is easy to schedule with about two weeks of notice, and standard turnaround is 7–10 business days. Every certificate carries as-found and as-left data, measurement uncertainty, NIST traceability and the Z540.3 decision rule, under A2LA ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, certificate 4296.01.

Garden Grove calibration FAQs

How close is your lab to Garden Grove?

About eleven miles — roughly 18 to 25 minutes from 1131 S Richfield Rd in Placentia, straight down the 57 to the 22. Garden Grove is on our free Monday and Wednesday Orange County pickup route and is the closest city on that route to the lab.

Can you support Nadcap heat-treat pyrometry requirements?

Yes. We perform AMS 2750 oven and furnace temperature-uniformity surveys and calibrate the thermocouples and recording instrumentation behind them, with certificates documenting uncertainty and NIST traceability.

Do you calibrate commercial scales used in food production?

We calibrate scales and balances to ISO/IEC 17025 with NIST-traceable weights. Note that commercial devices used in trade are separately registered and sealed by the Orange County Sealer of Weights and Measures — the two requirements sit alongside each other, and we are happy to explain which applies to a given device.

What accreditation do your certificates carry?

ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited by A2LA, certificate 4296.01, with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 and Z540.3 compliance and NIST traceability. The current scope is on our [accreditations page](/accreditations).
